National CHPS coverage increases in 2008

Improvements in 2008:

 

 

  • National coverage is now approximately 9% percent of the population
  • Seven out of ten regions registered gains in CHPS coverage
  • The Upper East Region continues to lead the nation
  • The Upper West Region registered major gains
  • The Eastern region has continued to show steady expansions
  • There has been expansion in coverage in the Central Region since 2007

Known as the Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) Initiative, the programme promotes the idea that communities can be active participants in the provision of their own healthcare.
